TORRES Y SÁEZ DISTRIBUCIÓN.

Elaboration of the Engineering Design and Site Management.

COTECNO undertook the engineering design and the site management for the extension works of the warehouse of the company TORRES Y SÁEZ in O Porriño, also designed by COTECNO a few years before and where there have been carried out the activities of distribution of the iron and steel products.

In the extended space there was kept the same distance between the porticos as in the existing warehouse, and it was established a module of 6.50 m and 4.85 m. Given the function of the factory, in its central area there was a free opening with 12.00 m entrance/exit gates, which during the extension were widened to 18.50 m to facilitate the truck turning. By optimizing the available space and also observing the Urban Regulations, the warehouse was extended to 1479.80 m².

The extended warehouse height was 11.20 m up to the cornice, the same as the existing warehouse, since it was necessary a distance of 8.50 m underneath the hook; the height measurement was made with enough margin so as to avoid imposing the use of a crane bridge, since there were to be installed another two crane bridges, one of 10 Tn and another of 6 Tn.

The facades were closed with a block of glazed stoneware tiles of 24 x 14 x 17 cm, covered on the inside in plastic paint up to 2.5 m and pre-lacquered sheet, galvanized by immersion in zinc bath, and painted in the corporation colours, following the design of the existing warehouse.

The separating wall between the warehouse and its extension was eliminated, thus enabling the free circulation between them.
