PORT AUTHORITY OF FERROL – SAN CIBRAO.

Elaboration of the Engineering Design. 

At the Curuxeiras Docks, on the interior of the Port of Ferrol, situated in front of the Port Authority, the recreation vessels share the space with the fishing vessels. Besides, there are a lot of institutional vessels belonging to public authorities that moor in the area.

For reorganizing the mooring space and separating the different uses of the docks, in June 2012 COTECNO was entrusted by the Port Authority of Ferrol with the elaboration of the Engineering Design for the reorganization of the Curuxeiras Docks.

The project included a detailed analysis of the seabed, in order to learn its characteristics and its pollution degree, as well as of the current fleet, in order to come with a solution that would integrate all the vessels.

The solution, based on floating piers, divided the docks into three areas: the fishery area, attached to the fish auction market shore-side, so that the vessels could easily perform the fish unloading operations (a free area was left and arranged for this purpose), the recreation area, at the opposite shore-side (closest to the town and with exterior access to the port premises) and the public authority vessels area, situated at the beginning of the docks.

The elaboration of the document was completed, on prior approval from the Beneficiary, in January 2013.
