CANNING FACTORY IN VILANOVA DE AROUSA (PONTEVEDRA).

CONSERVAS DARDO.

Engineering Design and Site Management.

On November 19th, 1996, in Vilanova de Arousa, the factory belonging to the company Conservas Dardo, dedicated to the production of fish cans, with a staff of 105 people, caught fire and was completely destroyed.

The company wished to rebuild the factory on the same spot where the former facilities had been situated.

The new installation complex occupied a surface of 6.306 m2 and it was made of two buildings of 30x65 meters, with a central area with of 8 m opening; a 1.478 m2 upper level would be fitted out for offices with windows viewing the storage building, in the central area there would be placed the freezing chamber and the refrigeration chamber, while the empty package area would be arranged on a loft, above the freezing chamber. In the production area it was left a free height of 8 m, necessary for carrying out the activity in normal conditions.

The factory was also provided with a treatment plant for the industrial waters resulting from the fish canning process, with a volume of flow of 300 m3 / day, approximately.

Likewise, there were installed two steam generators for supplying the necessary steam to the production process; the generators were of the smoke type, the Vulcano and Olmar brands, with automatic fuel-oil functioning.
