It is and L-shaped building with a ground plan surface of 12.000 m2 and a gross building surface of 16.800 m2.
The first level accommodates 8 fish exhibition and sale rooms (three of them maintaining a temperature of -25ºC for the frozen fish and another five a temperature from 0ºC to 4ºC), a distribution corridor with a temperature of 10ºC, the same as the 25 wholesaler rooms including a handling and storage room for the sold fish before its being loaded into the trucks; a room for the coastal fish and for the dispatch of the remaining fish to other markets, which also allows the receiving of the fish that is brought in trucks from other markets or ports. The complete air-conditioning of the market allows the complete fish transfer without “breaking the cold chain”. In a central section of the building there are the general services, the computerized room, the conference room and the administrative offices. The fish auction market is also provided with an ice flake machine with a capacity of 72 T/day and a refrigeration power of 1.600.000 kcal/h. The total electric power is of 1.700 Kw.
