MUSSEL PROCESSING PLANT, IN AGUIÑO – RIVEIRA (A CORUÑA).

Engineering Design and Site Management. 

The plant activity is that of processing mussels coming from the producers who are grouped under the Amebarraña Mussel Producer Association. The space was adjusted for the processing of 10 t/h mussels, passing through the steaming and freezing process.  

The surface of the plant is of 1.700 m2, and the surface of the land plot where it is situated is of 64.000 m2.

The mussels are fed into stainless steel hoppers. They pass through the cleaning, barbells-removing and steaming equipments, they come out open in order to be fed to the vibration-shelling equipment that separates the meat from the shell, and then they go to the refrigeration chambers, to be used in the canning process, or to the freezing tunnel IQF, from where they come out in different size bags, from 250g to 5kg, to be transported to other markets.
